We loved our time in Pedro Miguel. Just as adorable as the pictures. We were welcomed with at the house with local cheese.
Everyone in the neighborhood is kind and it isn’t far to the main town of Horta. I would definitely recommend staying here if you’d like a little place in a rural setting.
Felt like home away from home! So happy to have found this place in the village my husband is from. We hope to spend many more visits here! So many great memories!
We truly enjoyed our stay at Faial! The house is very charming, well located and has a beautiful seaview and the impressive mountain Pico! Berta was very friendly and helpful. She gave us very nice tips about whale watching, flights, ect We definitly like to come back to Faial and strongly recommend this house!
Everything was amazing at the little river cottage! Beautiful setting, relaxing environment, all the amenities could have asked for. We spent quiet evenings grilling local fish and grass fed steaks from the Horta market. Drinking mini Sagres and coffees at Cafe Rosa. Berta was super helpful and efficient setting things up before the trip. Our hosts Gary and Kirstin were perfectly accommodating and such a joy to be around. We hope to be back sooner rather than later and can’t recommend this listing more.
Ideally located in Pedro Miguel, which is a short ten minute drive from Horta, this Quinta is ideally situated, with stunning sea views of the neighbouring island, Pico, and within a short walking distance of a local shop and two cafes.
The accommodation briefly comprises of a large open plan sitting room with kitchen and dining area, a lovely airy bedroom and a bathroom with laundry facilities. Outside is a large grassed area, Proteus plants and a great gazebo with built in BBQ and patio / bench for siting outside whatever the weather.
The managers of the Quinta das Proteas, Stefan and Cristina really go out of their way to ensure that preparations for your stay are perfect. In my case, they preloaded the fridge and provided wine and beer, with the shops being closed for a national holiday this was invaluable. Also you will find everything immaculately clean and well presented.
The BBQ proved an absolute boon, and was provided with wood and fire-lighters: the weather was so lovely I only cooked a Sunday Breakfast inside on the excellent range, and everything else was al fresco. Perfect.
A ‘secret’ beach lies beyond the Quinta – walk if you are fit… or take the car. You will find a little cove with black sand and a shower to wash off afterwards.
In summary, I couldn’t fault this property or location. Do check out the little local cafe-bars and the wonderful little shop: you will be happy with the selection of wines …oh and the freshly daily made bread is exceptional… available first thing in the morning – grab an expresso whilst your there for about 60 cents.
