Casa Breizh is called after the owners origins: It means Brittany, the northwestern peninsula in France, in the Breton language. Casa Breizh is placed on the end at a small lane, well hidden from traffic and noise, it is a great base to explore the surroundings. Furthermore, enjoy the scenic views over the Pedro Miguel Valley and Pico, from the porch, while having breakfast on the porch.

The Space

The glassed porch along the east side of the house, offers an impressive view of the neighbouring island of Pico. The well-equipped kitchen features a big dining table for six people, and a beautiful view over the river bed. The small lounge area leads of the kitchen and has two sofas, TV and a beautiful wood burning stove. Through the hallway you can access the three bedrooms and the main bathroom. The main double bedroom has ample storage in its large wardrobe and chest of drawers. There are two smaller bedrooms. One with a twin bed and direct access to the porch. The second features a double bed. Both rooms are each equipped with a small recessed closet. Additionally, there is a small bathroom, with a shower, is located by the kitchen.

You can access the enclosed garden from the porch. The natural stonewall with its three millstones, sets a beautiful scenery to the views. And down the stairs you find a barbecue area and space for hanging the laundry. There is also space to park two cars in the front garden. The access lane that leads to the house is narrow and steep for a vehicle and might scare you at first.

The Neighbourhood

The village of Pedro Miguel is a rural farming community with a small corner shop by the church and various little cafés. There are also two small sand beaches about five minutes’ drive from the house. Praia do Almoxarife, the neighbouring village with its long waterfront, is a short drive away. Furthermore, there is a choice of walking tracks in the area, one of which takes you past a bird-watching hide by the Charcos de Pedro Miguel. Only 6 km inland is a small forest park, Reserva Florestal do Cabouco Velho, with a shaded barbecue and picnic area.
